Gliberts Monument
On another photoshoot - for a competition about "Westcountry Landmarks". This took me to visit a landmark I have seen many many times in my life - but ashamed to say - I have never visited - until today.

This monument located high on a hillside, towers over the town of Bodmin in Cornwall. It always appeared to me, to be the town's landmark, and somehow seemed to be there for the town, and played it's part, in recognition for the town.

In reality - I learnt - it was recognition for one man - Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert. Built in 1857 and standing 44 metres high - it stands proud in it's location in Bodmin Beacon Nature Reserve. Use "Google" to get more information.
